Default JRSC going in tomorrow..Flame me if you must..

Ya ya, nobody here likes the SC but I got everything including boost controller, fuel pump, and sensors for $2,400 dollars..Does anyone know what works best to tune it with? VAFC? Hondata?

Good luck with your setup. Batoutahell here on the board has a JRSC and he's finally making some good power. Just make sure you get it tuned properly.

seems like others just don't know what they are talking about. i installed my jrsc myself in my R. it runs GREAT!! pulls very hard at all rpm, and is simply instantaneous, to the point of being kind of sublime. the car simply feels like it has another 2 cylinders and another liter. i used the EFI Systems PMS. it is a plug and play. no problems at all, easy as pie on the fly tuning, and OBDII compatible. i say you will be very pleasantly surprised with the JRSC in an R. don't let these bozo's tell you otherwise. if you are looking for more streetable, daily driving, autocrossing and roadracing reliable power, you can't go wrong with JRSC, even on an R

I'm so used to snails I completely overlooked that...

You can just swap pullies on a Jackson charger, right? Anyway, good luck with it. Tune it well and treat it right

As I've been told by those with JRSC's in this forum, changing pulleys is a major PITA.

Good luck with the JRSC and show us those dyno plots when you have them.

I dont think its the best move...from what ive seen you can get just as much power from a modest all motor setup, without worrying about the complexity of a SC. and after seeing the JR unit installed recently on a prelude, and the problems he has had with it, i would have opted for something else in your case. but best of luck with it and just make sure you get it tuned properly.

PS...watch out for the pulley belt, and fuel and vacuum lines they give you, especially if you opt for a high psi pulley...from what ive seen lately, those lines are subject to leaking, cracking, splitting in two, and exploding.

hey dont worry i had a jackson charger on my car for about 6 months until i gained a bit of wisdom and took the pos off of my car. that thing sucked. you cn get about the same power with a modest motor set up with the difference being that the motor set up will be consistent and heat soak will not take a toll in the cars performance.

one thing i rememebred when i had my charger was when the car was first warmed up the thing pulled sick, but after 3 or 4 runs like those and it didnt pull anymore.

jrsc

one thing i learned about that was that it was the biggest waste of 4.5 g's.
i say that much cause i had to pay for it , installation, a few other things to get the most out of it, and then to take the crap off my car.

from there i started over and went the na route and it was by far the best decision i couldve made next to buying the type r to begin with.

one good thing abouyt it though was 5th gear. i loved the fact that i didnt have to downshift for anything. if i wanted to run it, all i had to do was punch it in fifth and wait till it got into vtec. to where my buddies or anyone else i was up against had to downshift. down fall of that was, i couldnt step on it for to long until the exhaust temps would start to rise.

jrsc to me is not worth the money one would spend on it.
if you want boost i would recomend a turbo over the crapson supercharger.

in no ways is this a flame, i am just stating my opinion and personal experiences with a jackson.

good luck with your kit and watch out for debris flying into the blower.

i was always scared of sucking up a small rock or any kind of debris because if the charger goes the rest of your motor goes with it. anything sucked into your charger gets blown directly into the head which can cause massive destruction.

anyways good luck again and make sure you tune the crap out of it.

Had one on my Civic. 160 whp with the 6psi pulley. I put the bigger pulley on and it really woke up the engine. Didn't have a chance to dyno with the bigger pulley cause thieves liked my car more than me but I guesstimated at around 180-185 whp. Anyway, I wouldn't suggest using the VAFC I had it and had problems with people trying to tune it. I would probably go to the Hondata web site and check them out. If memory serves me correctly, they had some interesting things to say about the JRSC. I kinda like the idea of not piggy backing to my ECU. Just one more thing to have problems with. The other thing is that I did have problems with my JRSC. In the short time that I had my car with it on I ate up about 4 belts within a year and had a diaphram go bad on it. My advice is to expect some problems and don't believe the hype about trouble free operation. Good luck on your new endeavour and enjoy the extra ponies.

jeez people are going nuts on this.....evidently JRSC sucks even though more than a few board members have made great numbers with them....

if you got it cheap, awesome, use hondata, tune it right and have an ITR faster than all but the most hardcore NA setups

rob- who likes b00st, but will not be b00stin a FWD car....

I'd like to see a modest motor set up make ANYWHERE NEAR the power of my conservatively-tuned 5.5psi jrsc setup.

i couldnt step on it for to long until the exhaust temps would start to rise.
Not real sure why you're concerned about exhaust temps.

???Huh???? I use this thing called an "air filter" - it keeps rocks and other flying objects out of my engine. If you remove your intake and start chucking rocks into the TB, it would most likely jam the turbines immediately, not get sucked into the engine. If the blower does fail, it most often does not hurt the engine.

make sure you tune the crap out of it.
There's some good advice.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I kind of gave up on this thread a while ago and it's nice to see the replies after i came back..Believe me, it wasn't an easy choice being that i hear both good things and bad things about it, but i decided to judge for myself. I will definitely be sure to post dyno numbers ASAP..My ITR is a 97...The 97s have OBD 1 am i correct? Isn't it supposed to be a bit more mod friendly?

In general, when a supercharger grenades... well it does just that, and in general takes the motor along with it.....

What are all of you talking about?????
I have the JRSC on my GS-R now for about 11 months and NO problems.
My car makes maddddd tourque, is very reliable and is a blast to drive.
just make sure you have someone who knows what they are doing install it and get it tuned if you can, I still haven't gotten mine tuned and is still makes mad power.
Don't listen to everyone's opinions either ride or drive an JRSC'd car and decide for yourself.
