Several Rear Window Defrosters Blow Out Honda Windows in Dallas December Ice Storm
Hello everyone I'm a first time user of this site.
My rear window on my 2006 Honda Civic Coupe imploded, when I was warming up my car. The whole top half of the rear window cracked across the top and fell in. There were blown out holes where the elements were located.
When I took the car to Safelite, the owner is a past Insurance Adjuster, and she said every car that was in there that day was a Honda Civic, except one Honda Accord. All were rear windows that blew out, and she said in every case it was not the owner's fault, but Honda's. She said the elements in the defrosters blew causing the window to be destroyed.
Ironicly the cost to replace was just under my deductable.
I wanted to contact Honda and lodge a major complaint, but I didn't know how, so I came here. I was considering buying another Honda, because they are great cars, but this is a raw deal to the consumer IMO.
Has anyone else had this issue? I just find it extremely weird there were no other make of cars in this shop except Honda. There should be some sort of reimbursement for this faulty workmanship of these windows.

It was just -40 here in Chicago. I had my defroster on all the time. No issues here. 2006 Civic Si. I think it was more a fluke. Maybe something to do with Texas heat and sudden cold.
Have you had problems in the previous 7 years of ownership?
