98 honda accord rear and front motor mount
Hello. I have a 98 honda accord lx 4 cly.
I am getting vibration when driving around 60-70 mph hour.
I balance all 4 tires twice and look at the balance machine and it is perfect at zero which means it balance perfectly.
The tires are in great condition and have no warps, dents, bubbles, rib belts, etc..
Now when I start the car, I notice when I shift from drive to reverse, and backwards from reverse to drive, i feel movement more than normal. I tried moving and rocking the engine with my hand but it doesn't move. I did that because I read in another forum to do this test to test weak motor mounts but i see no play. But when I had someone press on the brakes and switch from drive to reverse i see some significant movement.
If the rear and front motor mount are indeed bad, can this cause vibration at 60-70 mph ?
I tried touching the front motor mount rubber with my fingers and i didn't feel any loose rubber or holes anywhere.
Also, if I decide to replace the front and rear, can i buy the ones from advance auto parts. They have the anchor ones, front for $20 dollars and rear $40 dollars but i notice the rear doesn't have a hose to it but i heard you can just use the same hose. I am not sure if the hose makes a difference.
They also have the beck and arnley but i am not sure about this brand. The dealer ones is very expensive especially for the rear, i think is like $275 dollars.
How hard is to replace the rear one. I look on youtube but found only videos to replace the front one.
Thanks for all of your help guys.
By the way this is my first post

Hey - I found the one you're looking for and it's a lot less than you've found. AND it is OEM new. Let me know if it's the right part...

Thanks for the link but is still cost too much for the rear. Is $188.72 and that is there discount price.
I am going to buy the anchor brand from advance auto parts for $27.71.
I replace the front one yesterday with the oem part. It cost me $39.59 with a discount the dealer gave me.
Is going to take me all day saturday to change this one.
The front one was a piece of cake.
I just hope the anchor rear motor mount doesn't give me problems. I just don't have the money to buy the original one.
Plus it has a lifetime warranty so even if it last me one year, I can get it replace for free, the only downside will be the labor, but then again labor will be free since I will do it.
I wonder if there are any videos that show how to change the rear motor mount on a 98 honda accord lx a/t transmission.
I search all over youtube and google and i couldn't find any videos.
I wish someone could make a video about how to change this one.
Also how do I know the rear one is bad.
Now when I put my car on reverse I feel less of a bumb, because of the new front motor mount, but when i put it on reverse I feel a big bump and shift, i am guessing is the rear motor mount.
Also is there a transmission motor mount on my car or is the rear motor mount the same as the transmission mount?
I am confused

you didnt say if after changing the front mount if it made a difference in engine movement. there are two more mounts on the left and right sides also.
changing the rear one, dont quote me but i believe the best is replacing it from the bottom, removing the exhaust, front/rear brace (i have a 97 not a 98), then support the engine/transmission and unbolt it.
maybe you can get to it from the top, but you'd have to remove the intake manifold for sure, not something i would personally enjoy.

When I drive, it doesn't pull back as hard anymore, it is much smoother, it still pulls back but just a bit, i am not sure how to check the side mounts, my coworker put the car on drive and reverse and put a bit of gas on the accelerator, i saw a movement but not that much, but i do noticeable movement on the rear one.
I saw YT video on a 97 accord but i think the procedure on those are different as 98-02 accord's are all the same. I would hate to remove the intake manifold.
I think if remove the air flow tube, some connectors I could get the top bolt out and the 2 in the front, but i know there are 2 more on the back side which will be a pain in the butt, so I am not sure how i will take those off.
I am planning on buying the anchor one from advanced for the rear and also the sides, there is still big bump feeling when i put the car on drive, but when i put it on reverse is much better now, so i believe that had to do with replacing the front motor mount.

here you go, i think its very similar to the 98 procedure.
