Default Is this normal?

I have a 2012 Honda Accord LX with about 23,400 miles. It's Honda Certified. I was experience the RPMs dropping at 2000-3000 rpms as I exhilarated. And, as I coasted with no foot on the gas pedal, I experienced a slight jerk in the car. I took it in for service but technician said nothing is wrong. Everything is working right. He said that the pick up in the car is normal for a 4 cylinder.

Was he right? Is that normal? Car runs great but expect a much smoother climb as I hit the gas.

I think perhaps you need to learn to drive the car... it would help to squeeze the throttle, not stamp on it.

When you let go of the gas, the car thinks you are about to stop. So the AT will want to drop to a lower gear. You do not coast without your foot on the gas. Get a better feel for your car by moderating the gas pedal to coast.

Good advices! I think I agree. I may be driving with false assumptions. I thought that letting go of the gas when coasting would minimize gas consumption. To be fair, I only coast when I'm coming to a stop ( At a stop sign, red light, etc.).

MSchu, can you elaborate more on the difference between squeezing and stamping?

What are your thoughts on cold air filters?

I do have a Injen CAI - Cold air intake (for another car). Got tired of going CAI and Short Ram. So I just leave it as SR. To me, it makes no difference for most cars, most of our real would street applications.

But for the sake of discussion. CAI is better because it draw cooler air from under the car. But if your area floods or rains a lot, then it may not be good.

SR is good because it sits higher up. Some (Accord owners) have said that their cars stumbles a bit in bloody hot summer situations because the car is sucking in hot air.

For me, my SR does cause the engine to require a few more cranks to start in 100+ degree summers because it has something to do with fuel, hot air, and maybe the heat does something to the fuel stuck in there. I'll end here cause I don't want to be long winded.

The cold air isn't going to do you any good. The stock air filter is not restrictive, and filters the air better.
