Adding features to a DX
I am considering the purchase of an 8th gen Civic. If I buy a DX can I just plug in cruise control components from a Junk yard? How difficult is it to add cruise control? I did it to my older civic and it was hard but my son added it to his Toyota and it was plug and play cost him $30 and 15 minutes of work. What about other features that one might want to add to a DX or an LX?
doesn't seem to justify the price difference. I prefer cloth seats (My wife doesn't) Heated seats are OK but not a big deal to me especially with cloth seats. Alloy wheels are nice but easily changed.
How about later years VS say 2006 what nice features did they add to the car in the later years that was not there in 2006?

I keep thinking about doing a disc brake swap on my 1990 Civic but it may never happen. If I buy a 2006 Civic LX does it come with disc brakes? I hate sunroofs more than I dislike drum brakes so which models come with sunroofs?
Stop spreading misinformation.
TPMS came out in '08. The newer front end came out in '09.
I pulled out my '10 Civic brochure cuz I was curious. LX adds a lot of little features that the DX doesn't have. Things like power door locks, cruise control, floor mats, map lights, sliding arm rest, etc. You don't even get a 60/40 splitting rear seat until you hit EX (I don't think the DX back seat goes down at all). Going by the brochure, I'd hate to spend the money on a newer car to not have the little things. I'd go for at least an LX, or EX if possible.
Does the DX come with a stereo at all? The '10 Civic brochure lists the 160 watt sound system as coming in the LX and EX.

I didn't know the dx was that basic, I've worked for honda for 6 years as a tech and have never seen one that stripped down, they must be rare, I suppose I'm thinking of the dx-vp, all that you mentioned is standard on the VP I believe. Yes the face lift was nice but it's not a feature, and the TPMS system is garbage and nothing to brag about.
I double checked online and Vlad is correct on a few things... Although I never seen an DX come without power door locks as it's a pretty standard feature these days!
Also they do come with a 4 speak stereo.
