Which engine for Turbo EG Coupe
I am going to be buying an 92-95 EX coupe soon and i'm wondering what peoples thoughts are on what engine for the greddy turbo kit. Should i keep the stock D16Z6 motor and turbo that? Or drop in the ZC motor and use the same greddy kit on that? Will the loss in HP of the D16Z6 be made up for with its VTEC? Or will the added hp of the ZC be better? I'm so lost as to what one is going to be better. Also if anyone has any recos. for turbo kits other than the greddy one i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm not lookin to spend that much money. So its really just ZC or keep the stock motor. If i were to do a B-Series swap it wouldn't be B20 either....i'd go with a B18C. But thanks.

then just turbo the stock one.
but from experience, a swap all motor will put down better times and power. i have a fairly stock b16 in an ek hatch. itr cams, i/e, my header is stock and i know that hurts me alot. anyways, i broke a turbo crx. and a crx is much much lighter than a coupe.
but its your car and i dont know your funds, so just have fun at what you decide.

Rebuild ans boost the D16Z6.
Im VTC Boost Less Civic here - he put down 212whp on his old D16Y8 motor on just 10psi. His motor ran great on stock internals for a good while on 10psi!

the 95 ex coupe's chasis code is EJ1.
Anyway, boost the stock d16z6! It's a cheap good base to work with. I'm running 10 lbs daily on my setup. D16Z6 + T3/T4.
like i said, get a b20 over a b18b for turbo. theyre around the same price but the b20 has more displacement. get it.
I'd stay D16Z6 w/ a GReddy kit.
D16Z6 (SOHC VTEC) = 125hp
ZC (DOHC non-VTEC) = 129hp
It's easier to find parts for the D16, plus there is a wider variety for that motor.
You can build the D16Z6 for $3000 and it will handle up to 12psi, or $4000 to handle over 12psi. Witha built D16Z6 you can hang, if not beat, B18B, B16A1/2, and maybe a B18C1. So, $3000 for a built to brand new D16Z6 or a $3000+ swap.
Plus, by the time you have money to build the DOHC, you could buy a turbo for your built D16.
I have a GReddy kit for my D16Z6. Can't wait to get some times on it.
