Winter Suxz - Steelies???
wassup my H-Tech brethren...
with the unfortunate advent of the fall season, I am apprehensively dreading the annual mounting of the snow tires. So, question is, where can I find a cheap set of aftermarket or steel wheels (crv??) to mount the snow tires to, so I can save my already hurtin' stock wheels from more abuse?? Thanks for the help.

I actually have a set of extra wheels if you are interested. They are 5 lug subzero copies or something like that in 15x6.5. Bronze color. I got them extra when i bought my R about 6 months ago. Ill try to find pics if you like.
I believe Tire Rack sells winter packages consisting of steel wheels, wheelcovers and snow tires.
I don't know if that's in the price range you're looking for, but you may want to check it out.

accord steelies/alloys?? heavy as fug though and not sure about the offset
PM me for sale information.
At any rate, the weight is not that amazingly different and certainly not as heavy as some of The utmost Gaudy wheels that I Have seen mounted.
They are 6 1/2" wide but, I can't seem to see the offset... They do fit very closely to the calipers though. If you are on steelies and most likely on snows then I really don't believe that the rim weight will be such a major issue. The tires alone are heavier than the stock tires... Does this mean you don't buy heavier tires?

I have since acquired a beater. For more than this reason alone I promote the beater. If you can't then I rate second; getting crappy rim's with seasonal tires according to your local climate.

If you prefer alloy rims, try finding some Millenia rims from a junkyard or something. Lots of people here use those to mount race tires. I'm sure they would be fine for snow use, too.

Rather than get winter tires why not buy a winter beater?
Winter tires and wheels will cost about $400. You can buy a nice beatup Subaru for under $1500. Insurance should cost about $25 per month. Tax will be less than $90. Tags cost $36. When you are done using it you will be able to sell it for what you paid for it or keep it for another year.

All I can say is search around if you want wheels cheap. I ended up finding CRV steelies with almost new Goodyear All-Season tires for $200, so it can be done.
