I bought a used prelude si for cheap and the fuel/temp digital gauge does not work. Any thoughts? It does not even light up.

 

most likely a blown fuse

 

I am about to investigate this issue, mine is intermittent and will flicker and turn off. Connection issue or internally bad is what I am looking at.

 

BLOWN FUSE

 

That fuse powers up the entire dash, clock, speedo, tac, exc.


Check power and gnd at the unit. If good, replace/repair unit

 

If anything, the board has the same dry solder issues that other components have on these cars, like the main relay and hvac control unit. If the wiring is ok to the unit, just replace it, should be plentifull at wreckers.

 

such a common problem with 4th gens that I just went aftermarket once mine died. prosport makes a decent temp gauge for how cheap it is, the fuel gauge I bought was awful though.
