new to the game looking at a car
ok guys i am new to the honda scene and looking to trade my car for this crx its got a bad trans but i dont care about that looking for a project. going to swap it for a b series anyway. my question is what kinda rust should i be looking for structurally i dont care about cosmetic i got a welder and allot of sheet steel so i can fix cosmetic but structure i dont want to mess with any info will be helpful.
Def would keep looking. That thing looks rough!! I know you want a project and yes you can swap a motor, but don't trade a running car for that thing. It took me over 8 months to find my second crx. Clean stock si. He patient and looks around be willing to drive a bit. I drove 3 1/2 hours for my car. Def glad I waited around. Just my opinion though. Good luck!
unfortunately i have been looking and will to drive for it but havent found anything worth driving for and the car i am trading is a Chrysler lebaron convertible that no one wants to even buy. lol but if this thing is to rough i wont get it.
Did you see the front of it?

Not pretty. And $900 for not-running project is steep.

i havent seen it all and i will be looking at it Wednesday i just hope it aint to rusted i am told the motor fires right up just the trans is bad and i can find them pretty easy around here so i am still thinking about it oly thing that bothers me is that damn hood that will have to go first thing if i do get it. plus my car aint to much better it runs and drives and has no rust but isnt a car anyone wants and it has no value to anyone i cant even sale the thing. so we will see how bad it is wednesday and go from there
You also must assume that they know nothing about the CRX if they have a USDM CRX listed as a 1992. Therefore I would assume that anything done to it was done half assed or wrong.
well found another civic this one is just a hatch si but i think this one has more promise it was a turboed d series "said" it ran 10s
and has everything but the long block he scraped it in hopes of putting another motor in now just needs a car now here is some pics
what you guys think

I would be concerned about the rust. How bad is the rust on the passenger side rocker panel?
If there's a sizable hole near the driver's door, I would check the rest of the car for additional rust- especially the rear quarters (which may have already been repaired, the question is was it repaired correctly?)

I know i'm a newbie around here, but if you're really looking for something clean and have a moderate budget bring something from Japan. 88-89 legal this year and guaranteed clean if you choose the right guy lol
PM if you need any info, but thats my opinion. Theres ton's of cars around here but I stuck with importing

I agree, pay a little more and get something from the south or cali. It's sad, but most of these cars are in bad shape over here thanks to our lovely salty roads. . . .
well i aint paying anything for this car just trading a car i dont want and aint worth much if i had money i would look for something better as it is this will be going slow enless i get some side work in quick lol
Maybe trade for the hatchback, go through the car and inspect it's condition, if it is not what you want then sell it. I don't know how it is in Pitt. but over here in AZ nobody wants a Lebaron. It's easier to sell a non-running Civic then to sell a running Lebaron in my opinion.

well he turned me down but when i got his pics i would have turned him down for this one pic. but talking to him made me realize how much of an idiot this kid was when u get a car that was dyno tuned. and then u just got and buy a manual boost controller and uped the boost and even to 30 lbs at one point no wonder he blew the car up. so i am thinking that i am going to just get my car fixed up and inspected since it only needs brakes and a tire to be inspected at least then it will be worth more money and i can even sale out right for decent money and then even maybe have one imported right hand drive would be cool lol
Remember, Rust is lighter than CF so really.. that car is worth more cause of the uber awesome weight reduction!
Sad to see this guy didn't even make a small attempt at fixing his car, that hole didn't start over night. If he neglected something like that it was likely safe to assume he neglected any maintenance at all.
Good choice on walking away!
