Default Wanting to lower prelude, questions! HELP

So I have a 1993 Honda prelude vtec, I have had it for years and have done a lot of work to it, from motor swap, to pretty much rebuilt the suspension. A year ago I bought some 17x8 XXR's, and I have 245/40/17s on the car now, and as you would assume it scrubs pretty bad on bumps, too wide. but the tires are still good I don't want to get rid of them, but im wanting to lower the car, even just an inch or so. Should I shave the fender wells so they don't scrub? or should I just get stiffer shocks, it only really scrubs in the rear, but if I lower it, im worried that the tires are too wide and it wont drive well at all. Any suggestions on what I should do ? PLEASE HELP!!!!

In my opinion those are huge tires for a 4th gen, and the wheels are pretty wide as well.

What is your goal on this, looks, handling, just streetability?

ha yeah i agree! I guess I could always try and trade them in for smaller wheels and tires !! but I really want the look but streetability is more important to me, being able to take turns and not scrub, but I understand if those are just way to big to want to lower the car
