Rear lower arm bolt removal
95 Accord LX. Attempting to remove the bolts for the lower rear control arms that have the cam washers. Got the cam washers off with Liquid Wrench and my MAPP gas to heat things up. Can't seem to get the bolts out. I've put the nuts back on and tapped with a 5 lb. hammer. No luck. Can't turn the bolts with the 14 mm wrench either. Something I've missed in getting these stubborn things out. Probably original and the car has 208,000 miles on it. Thanks.
Soak the **** out of it with pb blaster or liquid wrench. Let it soak in for a bit. Smack around the bolt and bushings with a hammer. The most precise way I've found to do this is to use the ball end of a ball peen hammer right on the area you want to hit and smack the ball peen hammer with another hammer. Keep torquing the bolt in both directions. I live in the road salt capital of the world. I know all about rusted siezed bolts. I haven't had to cut/drill a control arm bolt out yet. I try to avoid torching the area, especially if you're trying to salvage the bushings. But if you need heat, you need heat.
Does that really work? Im looking to add a rear sway bar, and need aftermarket lca. I live in pa so we have decent salt build up. Ill try this technique out!
