D16y5 into EG
Hello I've searched several hours and found some useful info about this swap. On different forums. I wanted to know if you can keep the learn burn mode if you put it in a EG ? I know the o2 is a 5 wire instead of 4. But would I be able to use the harness that comes with engine and have the learn burn work properly ? Or is this impossible ?

the engine itself is hard to come by in good condition. A d15b 3 stage vtec is easy to come by but the ecu is not, although I've read somewhere from a good source that you can use the equivalent cvt ecu to get the motor to work. a d16y5 are becoming rare because these motors go straight to the scrapyard. If you are able to wire up the p2n ecu plus the 5 wire o2 sensor you are golden. GL.

The engine is easy to source, look on ebay, wiring info has been confirmed for obd2a and obd2b. All found on d-series.org website. Ecu can be found but only the cvt model but as I stated a well known d-series.org member claims you can still run it on a 5speed setup with no problems. I'ved tried both manual 5spd and cvt ecus and had no issues. One person also was able to hook everything up into a crx got everything working before he wrecked it. Best part, it uses one wire o2 sensor and not a 5 wire o2 sensor.
I will do so more reading up on this. I've spent two days reading up in it man. I mean I might just go with the vx. It's ob1 and its an easier swap. Like I know getting the HX swap will be tuff to get everything running like its supposed to be.
I think the best place to look for a vx is those ecomodder websites. Alot of vx enthusiast are there and they love the way the vx gets good gas mileage without any hassles.
If he can find the engine, harness, egr control solenoid and ecu he should be golden. You can run the car without the egr but it wouldn't get effective mpg though.
Havent had a chance to go on ecomodders. But I think the vx is a easier swap. Rather than finding the HX. But on ebay for the D16y5 i have been able to find the wiring harness 5 speed that is. The ecu 5speed. I think the parts are easily accessible..just putting it in is the issue.
