92-95 Honda Engine question/advice d15z1/Rebuild?
So I got this engine from a garage where it was sitting for 5 years, I got the trans, linkage, mounts all kinds of stuff, old and new including energy bushings for all kinds of stuff for 125 and a nice road trip. So, my question is I know the basics, timing belt, water pump ect, but should I pull the head and do headgasket also? I provided pics, now two sparkplug wells showed some rust but that was here when I stored outside (covered) for a short time, and it was only two wells, the rest were fine. I took pics of the plugs so you can see the condition they were in, maybe there are tell tale signs there I do not recognize, I don't know.
So, what steps for use should I take?
Headgasket?
Teardown and rebuild?
Let me know, thanks again for your time.

that 2nd plug well pic isn't too pretty BUT that head is clean I was expecting sludge all over it. I would pull the head to inspect the piston tops/cyl walls along with the valves/combustion chambers. While you're at it may as well do the HG etc...full tune up you know the deal.
Surface rust in those tubes is acceptable. I would hit the threads with a thread chaser/cleaner before installing new spark plugs, though.
Is this engine an unknown? If it's been sitting out THAT long, I would do a complete tear down and rebuild, including honing the cylinder walls, and replacing the rings, bearings, gaskets, and seals.
As for the transmission, check for excessive input shaft play. If there isn't any, install it and see how it feels.

Thanks, its my 1st swap/project period, so I just wanted some insight. I should have my stand coming in soon, so I guess I'll do as you suggest, then I'll post my build thread.
Yeah I expected to see sludge all over the head also,I was surprised.

That clutch is the original OEM FCC clutch btw, they're very, very good clutches, if it was driven right it's amazing how long they'll last.
I was wondering about the clutch, I'll remove it and take pics of it. I know next to nothing on how to judge flywheels and clutch conditions.
