Default Tach Problem?

Ok guys, so this seems to be a persisting problem in my hatch. I just finished my mini-me swap about 100 miles or so ago, and probably at about 60 or so my tach started reading off, it idles the lowest at 600, and the highest at 900, but on my tach it reads 1100 to 1500 or so, and when I spin it to redline I'm burying my needle well past 10000, it did this before when I didn't have the mini me as well I just haven't bothered to fix it because I've had the car for 3+ years now and I got to know where I am all the time I didn't see the tach useful. But now since I'll be doing a little more motor work I see it quite nessecary haha. I belive it's probably I wire somewhere in the harness that's slightly cut or something, but I'm not totally sure.
If anyone else has had this problem feel free to put in your 2 cents. I also really don't wanna buy a big gay 4" tax and slap it on if anyone knows what wire from the cluster and disi I'd need I'll just do it like that, splicing in so I don't screw anything up too bad if it is the wrong wire. Thanks guys
