ZC means 1.6L D series
its important to educate people on the differences and vagueness of the term "ZC" in order to communicate properly.
ZC = "d series, 1.6L" thats it.
it includes:
-1.6L SOHC carburated (JDM only, most common ZC imported so far, look for an opening or plugged hole in back of head where the original mechanical fuel pump went thru, and extra lobe on camshaft)
-1.6L SOHC MPFI (THIS is the one that is nearly identical to the D16A6, but not 100%)
-1.6L DOHC D Series (the original imported DOHC "ZC")
-1.6L SOHC VTEC D Series (similar to D16Z6, not as commonly imported. most common imported is 1.5L D15B VTEC, which is not a ZC, obviously)
does not include:
-1.6L DOHC VTEC (that would be a B16 which is totally different B series)
-1.5L SOHC VTEC D series
-1.5L anything

Thank you for posting this, I hope EVERYONE reads it. Now can you make one for the "D15B" since everyone uses that term just as loosely?
I'm halfway serious on that last part.

within the last year ive seen now 3 ZC blocks with dpfi systems. the last two i saw a week ago at the junk yard. both were sedan LX models. the first i saw was an EX sedan.

^^ I hope somebody just rebadged that sedan with the 'EX' logo.
They would have had to have done an MPFI to DPFI downgrade and added a ZC block into the mix as well.
EX -only- came with a 1.6 MPFI. Manual or auto trans - still got the 1.6 MPFI.

these ZC come in with whatever fuel delivery, and the original DPFI or MPFI manifold gets thrown on.
so... like... so what...?
ZC's typically use the same mounts as the sohc. That being said you will need custom B series mounts. Your next biggest hurtle will be converting from carb to fuel injection. It is not as simple as just the wiring. My understanding is the entire fuel system is different.

its rare car in my country.. just to bad i got DA5, not DA6..i think i just need to original restore..
Wrong thread for this question, but the answer is no. The TD02 is designed to work with OBD0 computers and provides 16 pulses per revolution for crank position. The OBD1 and OBD2 distributors provide 24 pulses per revolution for crank position.
I recently bought a 90 hatchback civic with a non-vtec dohc zc motor and all I’ve found about it is this thread of you referring to it as the originally imported zc motor.. any chance you can point me to a engine code location? I’ve tried the serial number with no luck.. just trying to figure out if it’s the motor I think it is
It is the "black top" or "3rd gen" version. Aside from the "black" valve cover, the easiest way to distinguish is by the valve cover, the Honda H is over the exhaust cam and the valve cover bolts are on the outside/perimeter of the valve cover where as the older version had 4 bolts going through the middle (over the cam caps).
