why won;t my clutch pedal come back up?
i ahve a 91 Si that i will be using for the winter.
We put a ZC with a 89 si trans in it
It fires right up, but the clutch pedal feels like it isn;t connected to the cable or the tranny. So it just flops around.
It is connected both on the cltuch side and the tranny
Any ideas as to what it could be?
Thanks

You might want to check the adjustment...Its threaded down by the tranny...you can use that to tighten that up....I dont think that would be the problem though. The spring on your throughout bearing might have popped off, but check the tension of the cable first.

ya no matter how tight or loose that adj. thing is still the same
You can pull the arm on the tranny by hand and it moves up and down freely, but i am not sure if when you pull it by hand if it engages anything
thanks for the help

The clutch install is fugged up. I did that when I installed my B16A. You're going to have to pull the tranny and get under there and re-torque all the bolts on the pressure plate correctly as well as make sure that the disc is installed with the correct face pressed against the flywheel. If the pressure plate bolts are overtightened that will cause that problem. The torque on those bolts regulates where the pressure plate fingers sit - overtightening will cause them to sit in a position like when you have your foot on the clutch pedal all the time - pressed inwards.
Either that or the throwout bearing has come off the retainer and needs to be reinstalled... again necessitating a transmission removal.
You shouldn't be able to pull that lever by hand.

your clucth cable goblin is tired let him sleep and he will regain his power and it will work fine.................. or just put a new cable in. i had the same prob
Rob, I already told ya how to fix it!
I told you, this problem happens when you mix and match clutches and trannies. You need to get the proper Flywheel and clutch disc for the tranny you are using. It does make a difference....I've had it happen to me several times.
You other option is to get washers and space the cable down lower, but that will put the release bearing lever arm at a bad angle and may cause problems....but hey if it's only a beater and you probably gotta take the tranny off to change the clutch, might aswell give it a shot for a possible qwick fix.
I'll be back this coming weekend (hopefully), I can probably help ya with it then.
