Default How to replace molded bumpers

Hey, so my boy brought a riced out eg sedan. The ricey rear bumper was molded to the quarter panels. So was the front but that can easily be replaced.
How can he go about putting the stock bumper back on??

Exactly right, rip it off. Just don't expect the paint to stay intact on the body. Chances are extremely high there's a few layers of fiberglass and/or bondo holding it all together.

ohh god ! angle grinder will do the job and leave a straight edge that you can then attach a stock bumper.

Stop. Look behind the bumper, near the wheel wells. Was it welded on, or bondo/fireglassed on? If it was welded on...yeah, time to cut. If it was bondo/fiberglassed on, you can carefully rip it off.

He says its hard to tell.
Maybe we should just try ripping it off, and if it rips its bondo, if not then -.-

It's not welded on, it's impossible to weld plastic to metal. It's filled with bondo. Take a sanding disc on a grinder and sand all the bondo off. Obv you'll need to repaint the car when you're done.

Yes, I think he was as well lmao
it was a diamond in the rough though, with the freshly rebuilt d16y8.
And as far as the shell, its not on wheels lol, so if rollers start at 300, looks like were in a good spot.
Once we get the shell, we will start parting out. Starting to think its too much of a headache to de-rice

well, you can get front fenders for 60 each and a new front bumper for 65 on Ebay.... Thats what I did when I tagged a deer at 75mph... had the factory paint mixxed into three spraybombs for 25 bucks and my car was back better than when I got it.
