hey i just picked up a pretty sweet 99 civic hatch with a b18b1
so i thought id hop on here to get some help on how to turbo it

its got the standard cold air intake
exhaust
intake manifold
cam gears all been changed

what is a good turbo kit i could buy

for under $1000 to make 250-300whp
not including ecu and stuff

what are your guys thoughts on an ebay kit to start on a low budget

only wanna run 10-14psi

or is there decent kits for around $1000 ? all new to me any help is much appreciated

 

hmm, 1,000 is a pretty low price point to have if you want a reliable car. 10-14 psi is pretty high for a stock car unless you have an amazing tune, and that is where money will be an issue, because a good tune can run you a decent amount. how many miles are on the motor? also, you are going to have to get rid of the cold air intake for the charge piping too. your best bet is to look around for used kits and stay away from the ebay kits because I have heard nothing but bad things about them. keep us updated on your project ( I am running a JDM B18C with a peakboost turbo kit running 8 psi making 315 hp/210 tq)

 

The full ebay kits come with a lot of garbage that you don't need. But if you start with a manifold and turbo, like this one:

And make sure you use an OIL RESTRICTOR with any ebay turbo. Thats the key to giving those turbos a semi longer life.

 

150k on the motor and i heard 14psi is completley fine for stock iternals on a b18b1

 

i would piece toghether a turbo kit, but im not to sure on every component needed,
like how can i get the piping to fit with ac if its not in a kit??

also what does the spring in the wastegate mean? i hear ppl always saying its got a 7lb spring or 9lb what do i want for my application??
