05-06 RSX-S or ITR?
I am trying to decide between the two. The ITR is prob gonna be just basic bolt ons. The RSX is gonna be kept all motor. Are the Type R's considered too nice or rare to be daily driven? Is it worth the price for a Type R? If I were to go the RSX route, it would be a 05-06 with a semi conversion to a Type R.
Any help is appreciated

It all depends on your plans with the car and how you feel about the two. I personally love the DC2 ITR for what it is, it's history, performance, limited options, rarity, low production numbers, ect.
I wouldn't call it "too nice" to be daily driven, but they are becoming more and more rare by the day and keeping it out of the traffic/weather and for the weekends is becoming more desirable, since parts are becoming discontinued and personally I'd like to preserve it since they are discontinued chasis and only getting older.
There are those die-hard daily drive it folks who think it's a waste not to drive it because it's a car and it's needs to be driven. However, like I stated above, it's logical to want to keep it safe and have another car that isn't as important to danger in the traffic and weather.
If you even have to decide which car you want, I'd say the DC5 should be your choice. You're either an enthusiast and love it, or could take it or leave it. When I was 13 and first saw the ITR I was hooked and in love, and would not consider settling for any other car, and when I was 19 in 2009 I finally was able to afford the one I had my eye on for a while, and I still own it today.
Drive both of them, get a feel and go from there. The DC2 ITR is a blast to drive, something like floor matts are $500, you don't want to step on them everyday. I'd say the DC5 makes a better commuter/daily car, but the ITR can be just as good. It is all relative.

The DC5 would make a better daily driver for a number of reasons. I also think that a person has to be really into Hondas and really into attention to detail to appreciate an ITR. If you're not really going to appreciate it, it seems like kind of a waste to own it.

DC5 for sure. The DC5 will give you MUCH less worry, responds great to bolt ons, has more creature comforts, and as a daily is the better choice.
The ITR as others have stated is a absolute blast to drive and when you drive it, you're not going to want to daily it.
Get the DC5 and not have to worry about 1/10 as much. You would hate to have your daily driver stolen only to have to fight with insurance to get the price you paid for it back.

Having owned both the DC2 and DC5 I would personally choose the DC2. I specifically chose my current ITR to drive daily (at least for a little while). But as noted above, I am very careful where she is parked, and never goes to a mall etc.
Just too much fun to drive; but she is not a perfect example. She's got some road rash and dings; but I think they add character. In a year or so when I want another daily driver (NSX) and she gets restored, she will then be a weekend warrior.

More than anything else, I regret having (daughter's) itr, because f worries over theft.
If I had to do it all over, I would have got her that yellow beetle bug.
It just had to be yellow.

Been daily driving mine since it was bought brand new back in 98. Almost got 232K on the clock still all original motor and internals. I used to worry about it when I go to the mall many years ago, but not anymore. Its not that I don't care about the car anymore, I just need to worry less about it and more about my family, lol.
If theft is at least a remote concern, the RSX is your only choice. The loss through theft should be heavily weighed (dealing with insurance, being out of a vehicle, trying to find a replacement vehicle, considerable loss from payout = actual value, etc.) This doesn't include stress from worrying about possible theft, avoiding living life due to not being able to drive or park, etc.
I have driven a basic bolt on RSX and it was fun. I just don't want to store another car that wont be appreciated but I love the ITR's pure driving only attitude. Maybe when I have a extra garage space I will buy a ITR for a weekend driver. Thanks everyone!
OP Do you have any other cars beside the ones you plan on purchasing? If you do, I would recommend getting the R and using that as a weekend car. If not then i would go with Rsx, you can drive and park it where ever you go with out thinking twice about it . But it depends on your preference of cars. The ITR is a remarkable car from Honda, I plan on keeping mine. If you decide to Get the R then I would like to welcome you to the club! lol
If I had to drive one daily, the RSX is the definite choice. I've had both and the RSX interior, chassis, NVH, K series, etc all make for the better daily experience. The RSX is also 5 years newer than the latest ITR.
For a weekend car, the ITR is the obvious choice.
Theft aside, there are just too many drawbacks with driving an ITR every day.

With my current budget I can only own one vehicle. I would like the RSX to be my daily but still turn heads and be fast. Have any of you put a modded RSX or ITR against a VR-4?
I currently own both and love daily driving my RSX. I never worry about driving it and could care less if anything happens to it. The R on the other hand is beyond amazing to own and drive but I"m always paranoid that someone is going to steal it, wreck into it, or door ding it. Hands down the RSX for a daily.
I'd just get a gsr or ls then k-swap it ! best of both worlds I love the 3rd gen integra's but love the k-series engine's over the b18's. Plus a k-swapped dc will be a lot more fun then an rsx-s imo they're not to much heavier but I wasn't a fan when I drove an of when I was looking for my first car. Ended up with a 94 gsr with plenty of money left over for what ever.
I'm not sure you understand the point of the car. Just get an RSX and turbo it or something as you'll be much happier and faster in the end.
And LOL @ comparing a FWD Honda to a VR4. The only comparison that can be made is that the Honda probably won't leave you stranded. Otherwise, completely different platforms and driving feel.

it goes without saying that the kswap would be fun to drive, but its still a modded gsR.
Why swap a K into a GSR? Just buy a cheaper RS/LS if you're going to throw away the motor. Everything else is basically the same anyways.
Regardless, OP sounds more like a hard-parker/stoplight racer than a corner carver, so with that the RSX gets the nod.
