Ideas on wiring harness?
This is not for a honda per se, an older vehicle that I have, that I recently pulled th engine. Going to shoot the engine compartment this weekend, and if time, redo the wiring. Basically, instead of wiring looms running all over the engine, or trying to squeze big @ss wires through split looms that were not made to take that many, I was wondering if anyone has ever encapsulated the main plug at the firewall with a box of some kind, and maybe a hard tube(s) coming out of the box with the individual wires coming out these hard tubes and using split loom to go to the wires destination. Thats what I was thinking... perhaps someone can show some pics of creative wiring in the engine compartment to clean things up, and what materials they used, etc.? Thanks.
ratrod dudes use brass piping to hide wiring. use your imagination.
use hardshrink. keepings wires tight and from bending.
search ratrod wiring. braid the wiring with barbed wire....seen that once

So is this for a Honda in general ? check out Rywire and their mil spec tucked harness starting at 400$. I have one in my integra and love it way smaller then my original harness and not all brittle
Thanks. I guess the biggest issue I am dealing with is how to cover or hide the big @ss bundle that goes through the firewall. At least if I cab cover that with a box or something - not sure what kind of box, that maybe a local retailer would have, than I could individually pull the wires out holes in the box and loom them. Right now the huge wire harness going into the firewall is wrapped with a ton of electrical tape... nasty...
No, I have a Honda, but this is for an old truck. I know some of you guys are creative, just trying to get some ideas. I posted on several forums for the vehicle specific one I have and no one has responded... so i don't know... any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
you can do what i did. count the wirings going into the firewal...
then go on ebay and get a military radio/com plug.....
wiring it up and put a plate on the firewall like i did. looks clean and makes pulling motor super easy
jus unplug from wall. unhook coolant/fuel/axles/battery/grounds. then pull

not sure. theres so many diff kinds of plugs.
but when i had it done. silkyjohnson did my harness for me. plugs i got came with wires still in them. cut on both side. alumium wires. he converted them from alunimum wiring to the normal copper type. easy jus takes time.
most motor wiring is signal wire anyways. only thing that needs "power" guage wiring is alt/diz/starter

Any other ideas? I was thinking of mounting a box of some kind over the main harness connector at the firewall, and then individually pulling wires out holes drilled in the box, maybe running small tube runners up the sides of the firewall to make it clean. I like the plug option, but don't want to go to the huge trouble of cutting out wires and resoldering, pinning. Any ideas on what type of "box" might look clean, and easily available? Thanks again!
