Default New NA Miata K20 project

Hey, all! I'm new to the site since I'm looking for help, parts, etc. to start my next project. It's a first gen Miata that I'll be swapping a k20a2 into. The engine is coming from a scrapped car and is currently in pieces so I'm rebuilding it from there. I'm sure there are some odds and ends missing so I may need help from anyone with a grenaded motor who is willing to part some of it out. I'm an automotive engineer studying at Clemson so regardless of theany challenges along the way (trans adapter, clutch/flywheel, motor mounts) this is happening! I'm looking forward to being a part of this community and sharing ideas with other technical hybrid swap guys and gals on the forum. Cheers, and happy holidays!

Thanks! Its definitely a track focused build. The plan is to start by getting the car stripped for weight reduction, and I'll be building a custom cage over the next two weeks for safety and to strengthen the flexible convertible chassis. I just picked up a running and driving 1.8L 1995 with 111,xxx miles, some accident damage, and the factory LSD for $1000.

It needs a new fender, door, and upper control arm but nothing too major. The whole idea for the build is to compete in the Grassroots Motorsports $2014 Challenge (More Info Here) but to run both autocross and track day events along the way to have fun with the car and dial it in. Thanks for your interest in the project and keep your eye out for a build thread

are you going to run it through the stock miata trans? or try to use an s2k transmission so that you make the engine to trans conversion easier?

if you want to save big $$$$ with all the machine work and fab work, you may want to pick up my K swap Miata kit that will be available Spring 2014:

Its a killer swap and I believe I'm the only one to have done it. Whole point of the conversion was to develop a swap kit.

shameless plug over
