Fuel pump Assy. to hard pipe hose

Fuel pump Assy. to hard pipe hose
So I found my line from the fuel assy. to the hardline was cut and spliced with rubber fuel hose. It has the stock clip plastic hose in the tank and fuel hose with worm clamp to the hardline which also was cut.
The splice between the plastic line and rubber it's leaking and I can't just bought a new plastic fuel hose because the part of the hard line was cut.
So if I put a 5/16 tubing x 6an fitting and run braided line it's perfect. But I'm concern about the space in the pump Assy. tube + fitting in the floor hole plus the lid.
Somebody can put photos I know it's done before.
