fidanza ring gear need help?
Okay ive searched but cant find much im having problems with the ring gear its worn out. My friend the guy i bought the car from had a local shop put on a aftermarket clutch and fandaza flywheel and he put 4 starters on within a few years because the gear wore out. Well now its in my hands and i looked at the flywheel and the ring gear is ground off some but im not understanding why its doing this my only thought is if they didn't put the spacer behind the flywheel if it has one on the f22 it should still be able to start without grinding a bunch you can rock the car in gear and will eventually start but im getting tired of it and would like to fix this the right way.. i would like to know if anyone has flipped the ring gear around or if i will have to buy a replacement from fidanza?
has anyone replaced the ring gear i would like to flip it but i cant find a picture up close the only thing i can tell it will have the cut outs for the bolts but im sure when i call fidanza tomorrow there just going to want me to buy a new ring gear.
There is no adjustment to starter position on a Honda, either the ring gear, or the starter (by way of the transmission) is out of alignment.
A flywheel shim is required on a clutch to move the assembly out, in order to maintain clutch pedal feel. The starter has straight cut teeth, and in themselves will not cause any problem.
Pictures of the flywheel and starter will help.

Another thing to consider, there are problems with the Fidanza aluminum flywheel separating from the steel ring gear. This is because aluminum expands more than steel under heat. I don't see the ring gear teeth being worn out unless that flywheel is really old.
There should be what's called a transmission stiffener mount between your engine and transmission underneath your engine, I think (at least, there is on H22). Take out the three bolts and the cover and you will have a very good view of your flywheel to inspect for your problem
