Would you run this ported GSR head?
I acquired this head threw a trade figured i would keep it as a spare,im currently running a stock port head and shooting for a little over 800whp next season.
noticed this head had been ported and i wonder if the port job,[who knows who ported it]. would be better or worse for my setup im on a pretty small cam still. heres some pics.

when tacking pics i noticed this, whats up with the guide on the right?
exahust seems like a very light job

Easiest way to know for sure is to have the head flow tested to see if the cylinders are balanced well. I don't like basing a heads performance off CFM numbers only. There is far more to how a head works than just that figure.
I can't say for certain what's going on with that guide. I would have the head shop who's checking the flow do a thorough assessment on the head while they have it.

Ill make 800 on a stock port before i send it out. can anyone tell by just looking if this looks runnable? has anyone LOST power in a turbo setup with a shitty ported head?
last season i was in the mid 40s psi trying to keep boost the same and bring power up.

Why not just run the stock port head? Probably will make more power than the alternative.

this doesnt look like it was ported
just someone playin with a dremel tool wherever they can reach
the area above valve seat( where the casting is cut by machine and valves are installed is not smooth. if i understand correctly thats the first area that is worked on when head is ported. even stock itr head has that wrorked on.
bowl blending its called?

Yes the blows are stock, like the valves never came out. i was going to try messing with the bowls. I compared it to my stock head sitting next to it. its been worked over quite a bit actually..
That's not ported. That's fluff and buff, there is no material gone that would improve anything. Either way, it needs freshened up by a machine shop before it goes on any engine.
