Is it necessary to run 10w-30 in summer???????
i have a GSR wit 95 k on it and i have heard its better to run 10w-30 (mobil 1) in summer but the manual only says 5w-30 and thats what i have been using i havent switched what do u guys think???? stay wit 5w or go to 10 and is there a really big performance diff i woulndt think so???
there are some small benifits to running 10w30 in the summer (or all year long if ur lucky enough to live in hot climate) but it doesnt make that big of a dif. if u got a some boxes of 5w30 stored up stick with that if not try some 10w30 over summer, it costs the same.

I use the Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 10w30 year round, no problems. Cali doesn't get real cold in the winter, so 10w30 is just fine... can handle the thicker oil (higher is thicker right? i always forget).
As far as the Mobil 1 issue goes, I'm finding it harder to get the TriSyn. Probably will be selling my car and will probably use GTX in my new one. Interesting thread though.
