Default 94 DX Speedo Problems

I just noticed that sometimes when I'm driving, my speedo will drop to zero, stay there for a bit, then just go back to normal. It'll also jump past my current speed for just a second, but never sticks there. I'm thinking there's a loose connection somewhere, just don't know where. Can anyone help?

Make sure that all of your groung wires are securley mounted.
Make sure that the plug on the top of the tranny, towards the back is firmly plugged in, these items can cause the unsteady reading.

dirty VSS connection at the back/top of tranny.

That (99% of the time!) is not the cure and the VSS is failing, I should have 3-4 extra.

I pulled my VSS (the entire assembly) out of my 92 dx tranny last weekend and completely disassembled it, cleaned it, and re-assembled it. It has worked perfectly since.
