Dayton was 1000 degrees, track is sketchy (shutdown area mainly) and car count was low. I believe Norwalk said no to an IFO event in the past, maybe Cliff will chime in. I wish states like Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky held IFO events.
Cliff dipped his toes in Indiana once and threw and IFO at 41(NLR). It was all ProFunction(4 cars) and Rob(now of Humble) in the n/a class, AMS with a few cars, and just a couple test and tuners. There was a car show in Chicago that weekend that tons of people attended. It was terrible. Now Chicago is struggling to even keep a decent import drag race program together.
Orlando speed world's track setup is the worst I have ever been to, wish It was two bradenton events and one gainsville event since pbir is no longer on the list.
I agree, now to me it seems like IFO is turning more into a car show with all these hella flush cars.. I never see many cars in FIP or outlaw anymore. Makes me not want to finish my build. I hope it was just alot of people down for repairs and upgrades. I hope it doesnt turn into HIN in its last years.

Outlaw still exist, it's just called SFWD now lol. Look at how many small tire cars are going 8's today, that used to be "Outlaw" territory. FIS cars going low 9s. Even the all motor classes are getting faster, cars going 10s in street trim n/a, used to be a 13 second all motor car was the talk of the town. I think for some people it's hard to stay motivated when there is really no chance of them coming out and winning. Some will say "get faster", that's easy to say when you're 1. Already fast and 2. Playing with more money. I know the bracket class at IFO here in Ohio is usually pretty full and a lot of the cars in that class should be in heads up classes, but they feel like they don't have a chance.
Sadly I think it's just the generation of kids. I know locally hardly anyone wants to build cars to go fast, they would rather look god while going slow. That and the fact classes are getting faster and faster, a lot of people say they don't want to "waste $30 knowing they are going to lose", it's hard for grass roots level guys to stay competitive. At least that's what people tell me when I ask why they aren't racing at IFO events.

Well said sir! I'm not even in a honda anymore, in outlaw it's just some old rotary guys on the same team and fip is usually just maybe 2 of our sc300 cars. You might through 1 or 2 in there if we are lucky. I just don't see it getting batter anytime soon. It's kind of depressing lol
I blame the herra frush swag fagz for it

On another note those SC's you guys bring out are bad @$$!!! Keep it up with those cars I love them!
I love drag racing as a whole, I really love sport compact racing but something needs to be done to bring life back to it. Personally I have tried everything I know to get people out there racing, from calling people out (as a joke) to passing flyers out to offer helping people get their cars track worthy. The biggest thing is the class gaps.
If I were in charge I would look into something like this
"Outlaw" would just be the SFWD cars the go 8's-9.50's. 72mm/24.5" limits. Call the class Outlaw FWD if you want to keep it just fwd cars. No one builds true FWD Outlaw cars outside of SpeedFactory anymore really.
Take the 9.50 and slower cars and put them in a new "SFWD" class. Put a 67mm turbo limit on the class, 24.5" and have it cars that go 9.50-10.49 et's.
Forced Induction Sport: would be a 10.50 or even 10.99 and slower class (depends on the break point for SFWD). Make the class FWD/AWD and RWD, put a 62mm limit and 24.5" limit on this class.
FIP: You could then put the fast AWD, RWD and even FWD cars if they want to compete in this class. You could put a 76mm turbo limit on FWD cars here and whatever you wanted to for the RWD/AWD guys.
You could still have the bracket class for guys that run 14s or slower. Or better yet, make 2 bracket classes, one being a manual class the other an automatic class. Eliminates 5 speed guys trying to compete with cars who run 18s simply by putting it in drive and going.
Theres nothing like seeing two 8 second cars going all out, heads up against one another. I saw that occur in FIP at the Columbus event this past fall and it was prob the best, most talked about race of the day. Not because it was a Supra vs a Talon, but because it was 2 cars in the finals that were evenly matched, giving it all they had.
It sounds like index racing but really I think it would help make the classes fuller and more competitive. Just my .02 worth, which prob isn't even worth that much haha.

Agreed it makes me sad to see a good part of the Midwest drag race scene dying when it used to be in full swing a few years ago.
