I want more information than a whinning sound. Is it at 3200 in every gear? Is it 3200 rpm or a set speed? It could be something grinding, that's for sure. When was the last time you did any fluid changes? It could be outside of the trans though. The motor is also a giant moving piece. If you have a spare trans at your disposal, try swapping it. If you want to actually trouble shoot this, you need more information.

Sorry its hard to do this on a cellphone..
I had a transmission swap a few weeks a go. I installed a sir transmission. I had it installed by a mechanic. The day he installed it the passager side ball join gave out becouse he use the wrong nut. But the transmission has New oil, does not pop out in gears, does not grind, shifts perfect.once I start the car the sound is not there, I can drive it for a bit and be ok but once I reach a certain speed the whinding sound comes on. I really don't know what it is. I changed the axels, throw out bearing, also changed the transmission fluid 2x's

What exactly is the passenger side ball joint? I can only imagine something giving out means something broke. There are several ball joints to my knowledge. Which one? The upper, lower, tie rod, ect? Are you sure the transmission didn't have issues prior to install? It could be a 'bad' transmission.

Might want to get a new belt IMO ( only a few dollars ), would hate to hear that it snaps and your left with a dead battery.

Have you had a fiend or family member listen to your car from the outside as you drive by? Alot of times you can at least narrow down what area the sound is originating from that way? Just food for thought.
