Default Dohcsolz 92 CX D16T

Ok, so I never post, just browse forums and do some research here and there.

Here is my project Im putting together though, it is a 92 CX and i have a semi built Z6 going into it. I purchased the car off a buddy who restored it, with all new glass, paint and any new parts it required to run. He ran a 57trim at 14lbs on a stock Z6 with ARP headstuds. Ran the car 4 times, ran a 12.7 then the next run the piston actually detached from the rod and the rod exploded. Very messy, and he wanted nothing more to do with it. I purchased the car a little over a month ago and here is my progress so far:

Day 1:

Got the car home, and we just so happen to move into a new house. I couldnt be more thrilled as I finally have my own garage, and set of tools to work with! Heres a picture of our setup

Didnt take us long, within a week we had the car in the air and motor ready to be pulled. Ended up having enough room to just drop the motor down and pull it out LOL!

So we pulled the oil pan and this is what we see.

Rod is still attached to the crank, piston 4 waslodged at the top. Looks like it smacked the spark plug too, its all smashed up and the piston has gashes in it

Now the motor is out, and nearing assembly. Here is the new motor of choice. Originally planned to drop my full D16a6 I had in how it sat. The A6 had all fresh internals, it was a 0 mile motor. The head had supertech valvesprings and retainers, otherwise stock. I decided to put it aside and go for the Z6 head that was on the car. The z6 head is stock. Bottom end consists of

Sleeved
YCP vitara pistons 75.5
I beam rods
ARP rod Bolts
ACL Bearings
Arp Headstuds

Ended up trading my a6 head, and a few goodies for this Skunk 2 IM and BBK 62mm TB. Has a fuel fail, but its all hacked up. Def not for a d series lol.

Was real dirty, 5 minutes with a scrub pad and degreser yielded this.

Ordered a Hondata gasket for it, and a few goodies from JHP. Unfortunately they sent me BWR. Not a big deal, JHP is sending me some goodies and a gift card!

Ended up getting a timing belt last night actually and we just got the motor back together.

FOR ANYONE DOING THE a6 BLOCK WITH THE Z6 HEAD, USE A D15B7 TIMING BELT! YOU HAVE TO USE THE TENSIONER FROM THE A6 AND IT IS TOO LARGE FOR A Z6 BELT! Z6 is 104 teeth, a6 is 107. B7 is 106. FITS PERFECT!

Im sure there is alot im forgetting, just bored at work. Big thanks to everyone whos helped so far and will in the future! Mainly my roommate Sam, and my buddy Joey!
