Dash removal vin question??eg civic(not wanting to do illegal vin swap)
I have a black dash in a parts car i just acquired but was not too sure on the vin situation. Does the vin just appear to be mounted on the dash on honda civics or is their a hole in the dash where the vin is located? The swap does not seem like too much of a pain just more or less alot of unplugging all the seperate wires.I took some time to search around looking at some writeups and did not find any info on the Vin number situation and was wondering if someone could fill me in or possibly put a link to a good write up that might also make this whole swap go smoother i can live with the greyish dash but since I have a black one why not swap it out. I was also going to look at the condition of the firewall for any possible leaks etc and also swap out my carpet with the flawless black carpet in the parts car.I figured I could kill a couple birds with one stone since carpet replacement seems like it would be much simpler with no dash.
Yes and they use roset rivets... I had to do this once. It is best to pull your dash out (the old one), and carefully drill the ball out of the rivet from the back side. Squeeze the rivet from the back side and push through, so you don't damage the rivet face. Install on new dash and either spread the rivet on the back side and or use epoxy...
