ya you gotta spend a few bucks but $40 is cheaper than $90.
been mentioning this in other threads so decided to make one and hopefully will help everyone out
honda P# 72623-SHJ-A21
odessey actuator for the door, same shape mold and internals
pop open and swap motor and other parts, reassemble enjoy

Well I finally got around to fixing the actuator that Chase sent me like three weeks ago. Thought I would share a few tips with y'all that I ran into while doing this.
In the pics below, the Integra actuator and gear is on the left. Hopefully your big gear is reusable because the Odyssey one will fit; but the gear on the back of the big one is smaller than the Integra one, and the actuator will sound like it is working; but will not. See second picture. Integra gear is on the left.
When putting the actuator back in, the shorter rod is a bitch to get the clips onto. If you slide the actuator about 75% of the way in, and then manually extend the mount on the back of the actuator towards the rod, then there is enough room to get the clips back onto the rod. PITA!
Took me all of ten minutes to do this once I get the hang of getting those little plastic clips back on the rods

sorry about that, but could also swap the whole gear assembly and that other rotating part if that ever happened, done 3 so far and hadn't had a issue. Not really a high stress part
No worries. Just passing info along in case someone missed the gear size and swapped it over.
Resurrecting this thread. On my son's newly acquired '01, the trunk only opens with the key. When the switch under the trunk lid is pushed, you can hear the actuator trying to do its thing but nothing happens. So, I swapped the guts of the actuator just now and can confirm that there was a broken piece in there which I swapped out along with all the gears, rubber stops, etc. After reinstalling...same problem. Key works but when the switch is actuated I hear the actuator working. However, the actuator is not pulling on the rod the way it should so it isn't releasing the trunk latch. Grrr...where did I go wrong?
Decided to read this thread since it was resurrected. Am I reading this correctly? That you can pop the trunk without needing to turn the key? I always thought the trunk was locked (even if you unlock the main door) and that a key is always needed to release the hatch.
