was'nt sure exactly what to call it, but i'm talking about those OEM fender edge lip guards or protectors or trim pieces, my car came with those when i bought it, but later took them off, but now i want to put one on my rear fender to cover some damage so it looks better, but i don't know how to install it ? the rear fender trim piece has 3 flat metal tabs on it, like the pic below, but not sure how it attaches to the body ?

anyone know ? appreciate any help you can give

this mechanic i know said you attach it by bending the tabs behind the lip of the fender edge.
but seems like even if i crimped them real tight to the back of the fender lip, that it might still come off, just from hitting bumps or shaking around etc....
the tabs are a thin metal and the fender edge is metal so don't know of an adhesive that bonds metal to metal good that lasts outdoors, maybe i should drill a small hole in each tab and attach it using small pointy screws or something?

I just thought they slid on, mines are super tight and I take em off occaasionally to clean under em... same on my eg.. I couldnt imagine them sliding off unless yours are unusually stretched?
