F22b2 engine swap with JDM used engine
I have a 95 Accord LX wagon 5 speed that has a tired engine 265K and burns some oil on start up. I have been looking for a used block to replace my tired one and the JDM engines on ebay look to be a good deal but am I missing something? Will a JDM f22b engine swap with my f22b2 engine? Listings are for long blocks so it appears to be a simple swap if they are the same. Will my US ECU etc work with a JDM? Does anyone have any advice for me about reputable importers? I am in Portland Maine so I would prefer to work with someone on the east coast to keep shipping costs down. Thanks for any advice or help with my question.

If it is the SOHC Non VTEC JDM long block that you are looking at it is a direct drop in replacement. You can use all of your current components, engine mounts, ECU, transmission, exhaust etc etc.
A lot of members have used http://www.hmotorsonline.com/ with good results.

Thanks, a complete JDM (long block) with 50k is only about $500.00 which compares well with a 160K short block domestic from my local junkyard for $400.00 or a rebuilt for $1200.00. It seems like an economical solution to my worn rings and much easier and quicker than a rebuild. I love the car and would like to keep her going as long as possible. Thanks for the referral I will check them out online. Thanks, Jon
You should also put aside some extra money and look into doing any regular maintenance to the used engine while it is still out of the car. Stuff like timing belts, water pump, balance shaft seals and retainer if not already done. Also adjusting the valves and replacing the valve cover gaskets.
In addition to what Ghost said, it would be wise while the engine is out to look at the steering rack and the coolant hoses that go from the heater core to the water pipe as these are really hard to get to once the engine is put back in. If the steering rack is leaking it would be a lot easier to get to what it's out and that coolant hose, if it's never been replaced is next to impossible to get to without pulling the driver side axle when the engine is back in. It's only a $15 dollar replacement or so.
Thanks GhostAccord and holmesnmanny. You both make very good points about preventative maintenance while the engine is out. I just replaced the front cooler loop for the power steering, it had sprung a real leak. I will definitely be looking at the rest of the power steering system when I pull the engine. I had the current engine out 3 years ago for new clutch and all the oil seals I also replaced the coolant pipe that runs under the intake manifold. Thanks again for the tips.

Easier swap would be the F20B SOHC PGM-FI to replace the F18A. If you have a sub 2.0 car tax the F20B DOHC would be ideal, but this would require the same changes as you would need to do for a H22(DOHC) conversion.
