What is high-mileage in a 1/2 gen CRV?
Been looking at picking up a CRV, but there is nothing under 100K miles, and I am just wondering what mileage I should be looking to stay under. Looking for a manual with 2wd, and the pickings are slim.
My friend has 185k on his, I have 224k on mine, and a girl I know has 240k on hers. All of these are first gens and all running great but my friend with 185k had to replace the engine because of previous owners lack of maintenance that killed the head. Previous owners maintenance is more key than miles in my opinion.

Previous maintenance is key to a long life.
Just find one with as few miles as you can afford. My Mom just traded her 98 CRV in on a new one. She had 65k on it. Just broken in. She didn't tell me before or I would have grabbed it.
I'd like to find a gen 1, but from some reading it seems the gen2 has the same MPG? I'd thought about Getting a cheap high mileage Gen1 and being ready for a b20/vtec or turbo, but the k24 is very inviting.
My 2000 CRV has almost 160,000 miles on it, and runs like a champ. I know people that have 200,000+ on theirs. That car will last along as you want to maintain it. I just make sure to keep all maintenance up to date, and change the oil every 3000 miles (probably overkill, but its cheap and something to do lol).
Go for it! Its a great car, you wont regret it. It has handled everything I have thrown in it or driving in.

my 2000 crv is getting very close to 240k, like 238 or so. everything is solid. i get a slight noise at startup that i dont like, but i have built lots of engines and the way i drive it, it should make it to 300k without any worry. if i get some downtime im going to freshen it all up anyway. i can easily throw some bearings, rings and complete gasket set at it in a week.

It's like Stangrcr1 said. Previous and current Maintenance is key. I'm second owner of my crv. Friend of family owned it before me and I did all his maintenance for him. When I got it from him it had 372,xxx on it. I'm now at 420.xxx. Going for half a mill lol. So if say they can go forever or till your sick of it
2wd manual doesn't exist. The manual was 4wd only.
yea when I bought mine, 1999 ex 5spd rt4wd at 127k miles I thought it was a good come up due to the miles. driving it back home timing belt snapped, after that the clutch master cylinder went bad, rubber clutch line went bad and radiator leaked...
wish I would have asked about previous maintenance
