Default Gsr engine build

Hey guys im planning to start building a gsr motor and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the setup im going with. weather its a bad one a good one. I'll be using a B18C1 block with USDM ITR pistons ITR rods oem bearings a b16 head with gsr cams oem headgasket and Arp hardware... Does this sound like a decent build to make about 180-200 Whp on a good tune? I know the power really comes down to how well i gap the rings and break the motor in but what numbers should i be looking at with that setup?

With that set-up you will basically have a itr motor with weaker cams (since you just said b16 head with gsr cams, assuming you will be leaving the rest untouched).....once tuned, i'd imagaine it may make close to the 180whp mark, but there are variable factors. I could see it being more possible with ctr/itr cams at least.

So ITR cams would be better? What cams are more aggressive CTR or ITR?

so with ctr cams on a port and polished b16 head with a victor-x Intake manifold. I should be looking at around 185whp? Also anyone have any recommendations on what to file the piston rings to? Or maybe a link to a thread where someone has done a build similar to mine.

The victor x isnt really a good choice for your plans. Its a big manifold. Better suited for boosted applications. A performer x would be a better choice if you wanted to change manifolds.

I had a feeling the victor x was more for boost. what about the Skunk2 pro series?

s2 mani isnt a bad manifold, I just wouldnt personally choose it. There various threads on here that shows dyno graphs between different manifolds that you can search for. There are quite a few to look at.

Performer x makes good power up to 7k rpm while the victor x dominates 7k+ rpm. I use victor x on my all motor build, just make sure you pair the right size throttle body with it because of the plenum sizes.

I plan on revving the motor to 8500rpm. im still confused on what Intake manifold to use the victor x or performer x? I head good things about the skunk2 but much better numbers out of the performer.

Quick questions , what crank are you using? Where will your compression ratio sit at?. Seeing your displacement cam selection and desired rpm I would say that the victor x maybe a bit much.not saying its horrible but your going to sacrific low and some mid for a higher rpm that you will not see, we have used victor x and had great success on big displacement ,high compression and custom head work and cams.

I'll be running a stock GSR crank and the compression ratio is 10:8:1 and 211? Thats around the numbers i would like for my build. I just want to have the power in the mid to high rpm range so i might just go with the skunk 2 pro series
