Hi all,

I have a 98 Accord Ex 2.3 A/T.

I noticed that the alternator fuse in the under the hood fuse box was missing and after I put one in I started getting a "no shut off problem". The car will not shut off even if I take the key out of the ignition switch or disconnect the battery. The only way to turn it off is to take the fuse back out.

I've been driving it without the fuse (starts and shuts off fine) but would like to fix the actual problem. Any ideas?

Btw the alternator failed on me last week so I just got a new one.

I also have a transmission problem (takes a long time for the gear to engage or downshift when in park - no trouble codes - shifts smoothly while driving) and the rpms sometimes drop when I come to a stop. I'll open a separate thread for those - just thought I would mention them in case these are somehow related.

start by tracing the wires from the alt back to the fuse box and look for wires arching out on each other. perhaps your u/h fuse box has some corrosion underneath.
