Crx axle seal problems.
Ok so some of you may know I did a d16z6 swap in my 1990 crx si. Well I have a axle seal leaking issue. I used the same trans and axles that came out before the engine swap. I replaced the output seals on the trans for the axles during the rebuild for preventive maintenance. The pass side is fine no leaks. The driver side I have put 3 oems and 1 timken in and all 4 leak terribly. They fit the case perfect and I installed them gently with the lip flush with the case. Well on my 4th seal I got smart enough to slide the seal on the axle out of the trans and the seal is to big of a inner diameter to fit around the axle shaft so there is the problem. I do not have the old seal because it got tossed I did a bottom up rebuild and to be honest axle seal was on the bottom of my worry list. So my question is anyone else had this exact problem? Do I have a swapped trans I don't know about? "Label is L3-xxxxxxxx" will need to verify remaining digits when I get home. Or is this a cheapo axle that maybe has a different size seal mounting surface. I have been using this seal.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe you can get a seal at the parts store that will work. It just needs to be 'thicker' right? Seems like it is something weird with the seal you are using. Or maybe the axle is poop itself. Have you tried a new axle? I would just take your axle and the seal to a parts store and try and get one that fits around the axle but is the same outter diameter as the one you have.
Yea that was my last resort idea. Just checking here first that there are no known issues like I'm having. I'm guessing mine is a one off fluke pissing me off that the whole engine build went like butter and I can't drive it because of a damn axle seal lol.
Yeah. I have a similar issue and it sucks. It's always the little things.
MistaBone has drummed this into my head by now, and I'm not even at that point in my restoration.
I am copy/pasting my notes that I have been assembling throughout the year: This, I believe, I copied from one of MistaBone's postings from either here or CRXCommunity:
So just to clarify...
The correct Honda part # for the left (driver's side) axle seal is "91205-PL3-A01 OIL SEAL (35X56X8)"
The incorrect Honda part # is "91205-PL3-B01 OIL SEAL (40X56X8)"
91205-PL3-A01 Left/Driver
91206-PL3-A01 Right/Passenger

No, you ordered the wrong seal. You trusted Honda parts catalog and did not listen when I said to order seals for 92-95.
Si DS axle seal is listed incorrectly, it is for the ZC/RTAWD, B01 is the last three.
A01 is the correct seal for ALL D series USDM FWD 88-2000. It also fits 94-01 B series trannys.

Please don't credit me. I just checked my notes for this, knowing at some point in time I saw this very subject discussed, and "MistaBone" had the correct info.
It's been a week and he hasn't checked back in, so I assume it is fixed for now. That's quite impressive. Your notes? Do you actually keep hand written notes on this sort of stuff? Or book mark threads or something?

It really is amazing how much great information there is in this forum. Without things like H-T, I would never, ever have started working on cars.
I have a folder on Google Drive with subfolders for the various systems. Each subfolder then has a bunch of junk in it like pictures, thread links, and some copy/pasted text info. This particular thing I took note of way back when and copy/pasted the relevant stuff into a Google Doc.

I usually don't like the spam nature of for sale stuff, but at least he directly linked it. It will be a very good addition to this when it falls into the achieves.
