I am having an issue with my 96 Accord. It will start and run at idle, but when you begin to increase RPM's above 3000 it will begin to cut out and eventually the engine will die. I have ruled out spark or air problems. I would like any suggestions on where to start with diagnosing the problem please. The car has 257k miles and I am trying to do this as inexpensively as possible.

 

Check for codes first. Could be anything from low fuel pressure, worn ignition parts, or a bad MAP sensor.

 

Ok. I failed to mention that I didn't have a check engine light on, but I guess I should check for codes just in case the light is out.
