Ok, so i buy some fuggin rotas with tires from a guy on here(aonick) cause i dont like my 17's anymore and the tires need replacing anyways. So the rota's have 3 good tires and he wants a decent price for them, so im thinking hey its a good deal, i can pick up one tire pretty cheap or even get the current one fixed as he merely told me he picked up a nail which i later come to find out that its a sidewall puncture.... Now, not thinking i buy a new tire and plan to just run these into the ground and get 45 or 50 series tires. BTW this guy has 16's with 205/55's on them. I dont know what kind of damn monster truck of a civic he drives, but they sure the hell dont fit my car. So now im stuck with 2 sets of wheels that i cant drive on. So i think to myself that ill just go get my stock wheels and drive on them till i get this all straightened out, but NO. when i pick them up from the storage place, they are all dry rotted to hell and bout bald as hell too. So now im stuck between a rock and a hard place and will probably have to miss work tomorrow to get this all straightened out. BTW if someone wants a set of rota circuit 8's with 205/55's on them, $500 plus shipping takes em.

 

Those are the kind of questions you ask before you purchase the rim/tires.

 

yea well i figured he had a civic or i think he does...and i figured a nail in the tire could only be in the tread....NOT THE SIDEWALL!

wow, intelligence prevails... I have coil overs, i adjusted them ALL THE WAY UP! it isnt just the drop, but you cant turn the wheel even close to lock either direction without rubbing the inside either.
Welp, back to the drawing board....goin to find some used tires for the steelies today and hopefully get this whole situation taken care of in the next few days.

You bought the wrong offset... get your fenders rolled.

 

40 mm is the only offset available in a circuit 8.... its the fact that the tire is so damn large u have less than an inch between front and rear of fender, and it just rubs when u turn....

 

Is it realistic to run 205/55-16s with stock suspension? I thought 205/50-16s were huge... BTW, what offset are those wheels?

 

no it is not realistic....they are HUUUUUUUGE... they are a 40 mm offset

 

Sorry didn't see your last post. I think you'll be fine with 40 offset once you get some 205/45-16s on it. I wouldn't push it with 215/45-16 Azenis, however.

Why's that? The only reason I'd think of for him to return the money is if he lied about anything.

Seems to me the poster just didn't ask the right questions. Tire size would be the first thing I'd ask for if I was interested in a wheel/tire combo.

 

i knew wheel and tire combo... however i didnt know that it wouldnt fit a civic.... Obviously from the tires, he had problems as well which was probably the reason for sale.... also i assumed the tire could be patched as he said he ran over a nail in an area where they are building a house near his place, but turns out it was a puncture in the middle of the sidewall, hrrmm... how does a nail get in there without force?.... yea, maybe i didnt get as much info as i could have, and maybe i was nieve (sp?) but ****, you would think fellow civic guys and people would help you out a lil more.... guess i was completely wrong and will be very careful not to trust people in the future.

 

Subaru WRX guys run that size tires - try to sell the good ones, and get some 205/45s instead.

 

i have 205 50 15 on my civic and i had rubbing problems but thats cause of the width of the tire... you have 2 options
1. roll your fenders im me if you need more details
2 buy these bars that pull your wheel in about 1/2 and inch itll get rid of the rubbing problem but itll run ya about 175....
good luck.... i hate deadbeat buyer/sellers either way the only thing you can do is to fix the problem yourself, your not gonna get anything outta him..
