Icon2 Transmission Range Sensor issue

Hi all,

Just registered here a while back. Great work you all are doing.

Pardon me if my question is coming too early;

I just had my 1998 Honda accord V6 engine and transmission replace with a 74,000 mile engine/tranny. the trouble is I believe I was given an engine/tranny different from 1998. they actually said it is 2000 Honda. the issue is that I can't find a place on the new tranny to fix the Neutral/Park safety (Transmission Position) switch. the old tranny has a shaft where the switch attaches to the new does not.

Please help.

thanks

Does your tranny not HAVE the shaft or is the shaft cut off?

I have a replacement low mile Japanese Ody trans in my 95 Accord. The early Ody used the position sensor switch, but my Accord does not. However, for whatever reason, the importer cut off the end of the shaft flush with the case.

If the cover is smooth, look at the sticker on the leading face of the transmission and look for the code, it should be a four letter code above a bar code. Also what is the engine code on the replacement engine?

Hi Michael, thank you very much for your response. My old tranny had the shaft the new one does not. I can't seem to find the code you referred to, if the code is usually on a sticker of some sort then my guess is that it has fallen off with time. The cover is somewhat smooth except where the shaft should have protruded from seem to have been covered(neatly covered I might add)

I can't seem to be able to upload picture here, I would have.

the problem here is how can I get the transmission indicator on the dash board working?
