Icon2 93 del sol Si - fuel pump won't prime

I have this del sol and i drove it from college 4 and a half hours away and parked it friday when i went out saturday it would not start. Tried to pop the clutch and it did not work. The engine turns but will not turn completely over. has no fuel pressure i have replaced both the fuel pump and the main relay i am lost on where to go if i run a wire from power to the pump it will pump. my battery is good and my lights and everything work. The engine just won't complete turn over and start and has fire through the spark pugs. If anyone would please help it would be a lot of help. thank you very much.

Unplug ECU connector A.

http://www.phearable.net/tech/wiring...schematics.gif

Turn key to ON(II).

Ground ECU connector terminal A7 or A8 (Grn/Yel wires) to the metal frame under the dash.

Does the fuel pump run?

Borrow a known good ecu. Probably a burned out capacitor on the ecu circuit board. C14 maybe.

Alright I did what you asked and it didn't turn the pump on but like i said i have replaced the pump and if i run a power cable to it it comes on. i went ahead and took the ECU out while i was there while trying to start the car it sounds the same with or without the ECU plugged in. Does this mean my ECU is bad? and when i opened it up some of the capacitors were brown around them i took pictures but can't figure out how to put them on here. Thank you again everybody.

Unplug the main relay.

In the main relay connector:

Terminal 1 = Yel/Wht wire (voltage from 15A hood fuse 31)

Terminal 5 = Blk/Yel wire (voltage from ignition switch via 15A dash fuse 24)

Terminal 7 = Yel/Grn wire (to fuel pump)

-----------------------
If you short terminal 1 to terminal 7, does the fuel pump run?

If you short terminal 5 to terminal 7 and turn the key to ON(II), does the fuel pump run?

if i short terminal 1 to 7 the pump runs and if i short terminal 5 to 7 with the key on the pump does not run. This is all with the edu plugged back in.

Check whether 15A dash fuse 24 is blown.

Redo these two tests:

If you short terminal 1 to terminal 7, does the fuel pump run?

If you short terminal 5 to terminal 7 and turn the key to ON(II), does the fuel pump run?

Now redo this test on A7 and then A8:

If you plug the ECU connector back in, does the engine now start? If not, your results are pointing to a bad ECU. If you have a multimeter, there are additional tests that can be done to verify this conclusion.

I can't help you with this^ because I don't know exactly what you did. Is there bright white spark at all 4 spark plugs?

In addition, you don't want to bypass either the main relay or ECU. The stock arrangement serves as a safety feature to reduce you chance of dying in a car fire following an accident.

No. You need a digital multimeter. You can buy one for about $4 from Harbor Freight Tools.

Do you have a friend who will let you borrow their Civic ECU?

Get a multimeter, and I'll post the tests.
