Hello, my speedometer broke and I am having a real hard time trying to find a service that will rebuild it. In general their response is, "we only do American car speedos." So I tried to get the parts used, but I keep finding whole clusters and I'm told that the Si cluster is different than the S model cluster. Also, I have an AT and there are tons of MT parts out there. So, the question is:
1. Does anyone know a good rebuild service that understands that millions of Americans drive Hondas, and other Japanese cars ?
2. Is the speedo the same in all cluster types, MT, AT, S or SI?

not positive but i was told si and auto/manual trans cars are different when i replaced the cluster in my sol.might be best to look on ebay or keep trying to find an exact replacement locally.

 

Thanks for getting back to me. That is the sense I've been getting. Honda has discontinued the speedometer, btw, so there are no new ones on the horizon. I'm still surprised, with the majority of manufactures using electronic speedos now, that I've had such a hard time finding a repair shop that rebuilds them. However, I did find a cluster on ebay from a wreck so hopefully that will solve my problem for now.

 

The civic ones are all the same, auto, manual, Si or base model, the speedo head itself is the same same. I'd guess the Del Sol is the same.
