99 accord lx electrical
I have a 99 accord lx that we bought with pop lock doors and an alarm system. when we got it everything worked but slowly things started to go out on it, the speedometer, the climate control tail lights gauge lights, stuff like that. underneath the steering column i found a birds nest of wires, which told me someone had ghetto rigged the pop lock system into everything important to the fuse box under the dash. i've replaced fuses, reran some wires and took off some things that had been spliced incorrectly. my wife likes the car and doesnt really want to get rid of it, but all the problems come back and no ones gonna wanna buy it anyway. my question is if i go to the junkyard or order the wiring harness etc for everything thats underneath there to try to bring back to stock as much as possible, is it a matter of just replacing it all or is that a headache i should just avoid?
I have played with wiring harnesses, and you really have to make sure you are replacing like with like. IE the donor car has the same options as yours, same year same model same tranny, cruise, etc. But, if you go to the junkyard, and carefully remove the wiring harness form a donor car, it will show you exactly what pitfalls you will run into on your own, and make installation that much easier. Plus, should fix all your electrical gremlins.
thats what i figured its just that the door handles are completely covered up and smoothed over so ima either have to replace the doors as well or figure out how to keep the pop lock **** wired in
