Default h22 oil pump gear broke need stronger one

hi
i own an h2b ef9 all motor set up with itbs (drag race car)
in my last race just after i finished my pass
my oil pump gears have broken into pieces
leaving me with zero oil pressure and missing the rest of the race

what oil pump gears are you guys using on race applications ?
i know toda makes stronger gears for b series but i cant' find one for the H series motor..

what type of damper or crank pulley are you using?

was it a clean pass or did you miss a gear?

Looks like the casualty of a solid crank pulley or overrevving the engine. They dont just break for no reason

it was an oem oil pump had it since engine build 2 years 2 race seasons and a bunch of dyno pulls.
i use a balance shaft delete kit and ati race damper no p/s no a/c with cm clutch and flywheel.
(was using a billet aluminum pulley the previous season if that helps)
my car is making ~340hp with vp race fuel and redline is 8800rpm.
my best time was 11.178 & 198 km/h after that when driving back to the pits oil pump failed
i'm still learning the car but never missed a gear.

I would guess the solid aluminum pulley you were using during the previous season damaged the gear and now it finally broke.

or you currently have a harmonics issue. or maybe the ati damper is defective. or maybe the gear was simply bad to begin with. anything is possible....

I would use the euro r pulley. I have never had a problem with it making close to 350whp and turning over 10k rpm and neither has anyone else that I know of.

keep using oem oil pump and gear

1000+hp for 3 years on an oem gear and pulley. Not the gear's fault. I would say something else caused it. Line hone, flywheel loose, balance, etc.

Out of balance is no doubt the cause, question is what caused it?

Please list the condition of the main bearings if possible. You will need to find a way to manage engine vibration. Lets start with ensuring the crank was not out-of-round.

You may need a heavier crank damper or flywheel to reduce the shock on the rotating parts. It may cost you a few HP, but it will go much further than that. 4 cylinder engines produce a LOT of vibration that cannot be managed very effectively.
