the notorious 3-4k engine rattle resulting from the heat shield or broken a-pipe seems ubiquitous among most integra owners, i've always wondered if the type-r's had the same problem??

I had that problem (at 3400 rpm) with my Civic with GS-R motor and the same when I later upgraded to ITR. It was very loud and obnoxious. No problems on my ITR yet...

 

Mine was caused by a broken header bracket a couple months after installing my a DC JDM 4-1.

 

 

hmm i think im having the same problem......... i get this iritating rattling noise (which i think is comming from the cat)....... anyone else have this problem? Could the Cat converter heatshield come lose? This happened after i went off atthe track, i didnt notice it until the drive back home. Could i have damaged the b-pipe or something?

 

don't think the rattle can happen on R's, they have a manifold. Other things could cause rattles, of course, but i had that happen in my GS-R, it's quite distinct.

i cleaned the cat out and i hear it too..but i like how it sounds tho

also have a DC 4-1

 

i had that problem... i had an aftermarket exhaust and then put the original back on.... one day it just started rattling and grinding... but all you need to do is spot weld it.... now my exhaust vibrates when i decelerate cos i think i'm missiing some brackets near the muffler...

 

It is caused by harmonic resonance of the exhaust pulses and is endemic to Integras.

I have this noise on my car with no cat, no heat shields and through two different headers (Mugen and Spoon)

 

Can you put the bracket on while the header is on the car? Or do you need to remove the headers?
