Default CTR cams vs aftermarket??

I am currently running CTR cams but was wondering if making an upgrade will be beneficial for the money? My setup currently is a B18C block LS rods and crank 82.25 mm PCT pistons PR3 head type R intake manifold and throttle body Hondata intake gasket PLM equal length header with 2.5" full exhaust no cat. Will an upgrade in a cam gain anything worth the money I will spend for an upgrade? Or will I need any other or any better supporting mods before I upgrade?

82.25mm pct pistons? I don't recall that being an actual size available. You have to be SO close to the aluminum part of the sleeve it's not funny and detonation will crack the wall. Especially with that compression. With any high lift cams you're going to want to clay the motor and check clearances.

I say 82.25 only bc the top of the piston is stamped .050...I haven't measured them to see and I didn't build it originally I traded and got the setup and have only been inside it to see what it had and to freshen it up with new bearings

I initially thought that but really wasn't sure. So would a skunk2 stage 2 cam be too much for my setup you think?

Like I said in my previous post. You WILL want/need to clay the motor just to be safe. Thse piston domes w/ a high lift cam may run into clearance issues. Last thing you wanna do is kiss a P2V. Your static compression is in the 13:1 range assuming the head was never milled and block never decked and the piston sticks out of the hole 6 thou. You may end up having to retard both cam and ignition timing to the point you can't take full advantage of the cams.
