Default 90 Accord replaced Cat started but then died on its own

So a few weeks ago my 90 accord broke down on the freeway. Randomly my car just died and I popped the hed to see smoke evey where and noticed that by the cat was orange from heat. Cooled it down towed it home and figured it was my catyletic convertor so I replaced the cat. When I was done the car started and I left it idle so the alternator could charge up my battery but then as I was picking up tools the car just shut off. Didnt spudder, didnt clank or anything just turned off like someone turned the key off but didnt. I have no idea what this could be and ned my car!! Some one please help!!! I didnt change my O2, could an bad O2 make your car not start? I have never heard of such a thing but I have already put so mch money in to this car I cant afford to fix things that arent broken. If you have any ideas please let me know please

Your coil could have burned out but this is just a guess. First thing to do is to take the valve cover off and see if your timing belt broke. Let's hope not.

If that checks out ok, then check for spark, fuel, and air. You can find various vids on youtube.
