Starter clicking help! (list of actions inside)
Hey everyone, need some help here. So my 99 DC with an LS/V won't turn over. When I try I just hear a clicking?!? I know this is covered everywhere but I am at a loss here. I can build motors but for the life of me, I can't figure this out. I know it is something stupid and I am hoping that some outside perspective will help me figure this out. Here is what I have tested so far:
1. 12.6V give or take to starter
2. Over 12V at signal cable at starter when trying to start
3. Checked tranny/valve cover/thermo ground to chassis, all less than .1 ohm
4. Ran jumper wire from battery to solenoid, starter turns motor over fine
5. Pulled starter and bench tested, everything works fine
6. Pulled clutch switch, resistance was .01 when pressed
7. Jumpered wires on clutch switch just in case
8. Ran jumper cable ground from starter body to battery ground just in case
I think that is it. I think that is all I can really do but I know I am probably missing something. Son is in school now and wife needs main car. I'm in the Navy and really need to get this thing running! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Solenoid is fine if I can jump it straight from the battery correct? It still goes through the solenoid but bypasses the main relay.

The PGM-FI Main Relay has nothing to do with engine cranking.
My guess is it is the high current contact in the starter motor or a bad ground.
Start by redoing your main grounds, batt. post/cable clamp, batt. to chassis and chassis to engine grounds.
If still not cranking...

If you scroll down on the link I posted a pix of new and old contacts.
We, [Dave Ward Auto Electric] have done 7-8 Honda/Acura starters this year, all of them 10 years or older, the one in the link is my 94RS. 94
No, the click you hear is the solenoid plunger, [working] but the contacts are so worn out a connection to the starter motor is not being made.
