Issue with 97-01 OEM Prelude front springs on 5th Gen Accord
Hey guys,
I am here looking for some potential fixes for my current setup.
I have a 5th Gen Accord WAGON that has 252K miles and needed a suspension upgrade...BAD! The front OEM springs were rusted so bad they broke. I also had a Prelude that I had the front OEM springs in my basment. I knew they would fit but wasn't sure exactly how the car would be affected.
AI purchased KYB GR-2 OEM-style front shocks. I put everything together and noticed that the car was lower now. Cool. I was hoping it would be. After driving it, I noticed they was some play in the front. I narrnow do the cause.
Once I lower the car to the groud off the jack, the two rubber pieces that have the metal 1.5" metal cylinder that connects the two in the top hats gets pushed up a little. There is some play on both fronts. It's like I need to tighted them down 0.5"-1.0" and it would be good-to-go. Well, I can't. I don't have any more threads on the tops of the shock shafts. I was hoping I would be able to cut the metal cylinders down and that would give me more threads. Nope.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this situation?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I had done this on my cb9 with the 97 prelude front springs. I used stock shocks without issue. are you missing a washer maybe somewhere? never hurts to look over your work and make sure everything is in place.
