Default Timing belt tensioner

Hello folks, I have a 92 accord ex automatic and I just replaced the water pump last night(what a blast haha) and I'm having issues getting the belts tight. I have the tensioner together and the lock nut tight but it's just not tightening the belts. Is there something there I'm missing or not doing? Any advice would be awesome.

There is a full writeup in the FAQ for doing the water pump and belt installation with high resolution pictures and an in depth overview of the procedure. I suggest you check it out.

Your car should autpmatically tension itself there are instructions in the belt package on mine and i was soppose to with the tensior nut loose turn my crank three full rotation and let it tension then tighten the nut and then for the balancer haft belt it was turn the crank til 12 teeth on the cam pass and then the belts should tension but mine is a 90 accord auto

To tension the belt all you do is turn the crank so that the camshaft turns 3 teeth. This is the only thing you do. Then you tighten down the timing belt plate using one of the short timing belt cover bolts. This will hold the timing belt tensioner to spec while you tension the balancer belt. To tension the balance shaft belt, you turn the crank one full revolution and then tighten down the tensioner bolt to spec. Then you remove the timing belt cover bolt and you're done.
